Esta ruta es muy interesante por su cercanía con el área urbana de Medellín y la variedad de paisajes y fauna que se puede disfrutar por el camino.
Es necesario desplazarse hasta la entrada de la vereda la Clara, lo cual se puede hacer por vía pavimentada principal entre el municipio de Caldas (Antioquia) y Santa Bárbara. Hay nutridas rutas de transporte hacia el sitio.
La caminata inicia por un corto tramo pavimentado y posteriormente ya por la anhelada trocha. Esta caminata transcurre por las vegas del río Medellín, el cual discurre cristalino y limpio por éstos territorios. El terreno no es difícil y el ascenso realizado se ejecuta sin mayores dificultades pues la topografía y el paisaje hace que el recorrido sea muy agradable. El camino lleva hasta la reserva Forestal Alto de San Miguel, un sitio natural que permite el avistamiento de aves y el disfrute de aire puro. Es frecuente escuchar el canto del "Cacique Candela" y otros pájaros, y si hay suerte, observarlos en las copas de los árboles.
En la cuenca alta de la quebrada La Clara, ocurre un fenómeno muy interesante y es la presencia permanente de mariposas incluyendo la hermosísima HELICONIUS CLYSONYMUS o Heliconia de Montaña que pone sus huevos en cogollos de Passiflora Capsularis, bosques arriba de los 1600 msnm.
Caminata muy recomendada!

This trekking is very interesting due to its proximity to Medellin City
It is necessary to travel to the entrance of "Vereda La Clara", which can be done through the main paved road between the municipality of Caldas (Antioquia) and Santa Bárbara. There are numerous transportation routes to the site.
The trekking begins with a short paved section and later on the long-awaited path. This trekking include the meadows of Medellin River, which runs crystal clear and clean through these territories. The terrain is not difficult and the ascent is without major difficulties, since the topography and the landscape make the route very pleasant.
The road leads to "Alto de San Miguel Forest Reserve", a natural site that allows bird watching and the enjoyment of fresh air. It is common to hear the song of the "Cacique Candela" (HYPOPYRRHUS PYROHYPOGASTER) and other birds, and if you are lucky, observe them in the treetops.
In the upper basin of "Quebrada La Clara", a very interesting phenomenon occurs and it is the permanent presence of butterflies including the beautiful HELICONIUS CLYSONYMUS or Mountain Heliconia that lays its eggs in Passiflora Capsularis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passiflora_capsularis) buds, forests above 1600 meters above sea level.
