From Iris Burn to Moturau we go through a forest, always having a river on our right. We were told that everything was flat but it really has some slight rise and fall until you reach Lake Manapouri. First day of very clear. As we arrived at 4pm. we had a very good swim in the lake.
This refuge is very cozy, its guard is an older man. By cons we have many mosquitoes that eat us. We meet a young American who just finished his Art studies is volunteering for the DOC planting trees. He says that the NZ government is very strict with the conservation of the National Parks. The only mammal native to New Zealand is the bat.
