We start our route leaving the campsite to the left of the lake. It's drizzle. We pass by a bird recovery center (Te Anau WildLife Park). We started the Kepler route, in which posters prohibit dogs for posing a threat to kiwis. We pass a dam (where the official route begins and ends) and we take the right path towards Bros Bay (1h 30m) and from here we start climbing through the Fern forest.
We do about 900 m. of unevenness and we see the first Kea (intrepid birds that jump to the rubber of the boots). From Brod Bay everything is up for 4 hours. From time to time there are wooden stairs to allow passage. Past the forest we have before our view a plain with the lake in the background until we reach our refuge: the LUXMORE HUT, very large and good, with views of the lake and a helicopter landing pad and toilet inside !!! (all the previous ones had it outside). There we meet a young couple of Catalans who are spending 7 months in NZ working on farms using the WWOOFING and WORKAWAY system, websites for traveling working in exchange for accommodation (food + bed). They have served at weddings, accompanied trekkings carrying backpacks, etc.

We did this track as a daytrip because the hut was fully booked months in advance. Starting from the gate parking place, all the way up after the bushline, when the views reveal, is magnificent.
