Trekking Everest Base Camp 3. Acclimatization. Namche Bazar (3440m) - Khumjung (3780m)
In most of the treks that are carried out in the area, this day is taken to acclimatize, therefore it is used to take a pleasant walk through the area and do some sightseeing. The route proposed by the guide is a good opportunity to climb almost four thousand meters and return to Namche to rest.
We will make a circular route that goes up to the town of Khumjung. In the first room, passing by the monument to Hilary where we can get the first views of: Lhotse (8516 m), Lhotse Shar (8382m), Shar Tse "Peak 38" (7591m ), Ama Dablam (6814m), Nuptse (7864m), Everest (8848m).
Next to the monument, we will enjoy a visit to the Everest museum, with references to several classic ascents, the movie Everest recorded a few years ago and of course the flora and fauna of the place.
To get here we have a short but demanding first climb that serves as a warm-up. Here we can already observe the effects of the height that lowers the revolutions of the body in a very evident way.
Once the corresponding visits have been made, we begin a steep climb of just over a kilometer that takes us to the impressive Everest hotel. A fantastic place where we took the opportunity to have lunch. I certainly believe that this place has a special charm and of course requires a special price to stay here.
Now we have a pleasant descent to the town of Khumjung. Located at 3700 m, it has an interesting monastery where they keep what they say is the hair of the Yeti. The price is 250 rupees (2€). Although the most important thing is the beautiful monastery with some very interesting colorful images. We were able to see some artists how they carried out this artistic work.
We take a walk around the town and take the opportunity to buy some bracelets and ornaments that the locals sell. We continue towards Khunde, a small village located a short distance away. We move along what looks like a street formed by the stone buildings that make up the corrals or orchards in the area.
The formations of the corrals together with the houses are very interesting, all painted with a green roof. In Khunde we make a stop to eat and visit another beautiful temple, this one nestled on top of a hill where we enjoy impressive views along with a beautiful recitation of prayers and of course the consequent tea that the monks always offer to the tourists who accompany them .
From this point we only have a pleasant descent to Namche. It is a long stretch of about 2-3 kilometers but very pleasant. At the entrance of Namche we find
another temple. And we have to wander a bit until we reach our Lodge.
