Trekking Everest Base Camp 2. Phakding (2650 m) - Namche Bazar (3440 m)
Second day of acclimatization and the route begins with a pleasant up and down that allows us to warm up our legs. Throughout the tour, we will cross impressive bridges, the route jumps a total of 4 times the Dhud Khosi Nadi river. Of course, sharing the route with jakcs and pack mules.
All visitors to the Sagarmatha National Park have to make a mandatory stop to take the permits and pay for the entrance fees to the park. This is done in the Monjo town.
Once the bureaucratic procedures are resolved, an important ascent of about two kilometers begins, with 500 meters of accumulated positive difference. that takes us to the fantastic town of the serphas: Namche Bazar.
This climb is the first contact with the reality of the height. The body goes into low power and in slow motion we begin the steady climb. It is curious to see how fresh the return hikers come down.
At the entrance to Namche, a large Stupa rebuilt after the earthquake awaits us. It is certainly one of the most beautiful villages for trekking and with all the services. From this point it will be increasingly difficult to find certain things. Therefore last important point to finalize purchases or pending things.
Namche Bazaar, is a city in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Namche is located at an altitude of 3,440 meters, settled on the slopes of the mountain. It is the gateway to the Himalayas and every trekker in the Khumbu region visits it on their way to other parts of the region. Visitors usually spend at least one night in the city to facilitate acclimatization to the altitude. The city has many shops and hostels where you can find everything you need for excursions or expeditions, but the prices are higher than those of Kathmandu.
Some of the small towns we pass through on the way up to Namche are Toktok, Byangar, Monjo and Larja Doghan.
Another of the important characteristics of this second stage that shortly before starting the climb to Namche we find the first time we see Mount Everest. Another of the peaks that will accompany us on the route will be the Thamserku with 6618 meters.
Our Lodge is the Ama Dablan located in the upper part of the town. The correct rooms, the bathrooms quite bad and dirty. A shower 400 rupees, yes with hot water. Charging the mobile 100 rupees an hour. And here was one of the few times on the trek that we ate meat, although I have to say that it was very tough.
