Trekking Manaslu, “the mountain of spirits”. Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world with an altitude of 8,163 meters. It is located in the Mansiri Himal, in the Himalayas, in the central-western part of Nepal. Its name, which means “mountain of spirits”, comes from the Sanskrit word manasa, which means “intellect” or “soul”.
The Manaslu Trek is a relatively untouristy route, although it is becoming more and more popular. As it is located in a remote region with restricted access, not many tourists undertake this route. We will be able to experience, in an authentic way, the daily life of the local inhabitants, the culture and way of life of ethnic groups such as the Thakali and the Gurung that have not been contaminated by tourism. We will feel like we have travelled back in time. We will find a great variety of landscapes, from subtropical forests to impressive glaciers. We will also get to know the bustling Kathmandu with its Buddhist and Hindu temples, World Heritage Sites.
The trek is divided into 12 stages of varying difficulty and hardness, including the climb to the Manaslu base camp (a desert at this time) where we will reach an altitude of 4,750 m, as well as the passage through the well-known Larke Pass or Larkya La (5,106 m), where we will test both our physical endurance and our ability to acclimatize to the altitude.
STAGES
Stage 1: Soti Khola – Khorla Besi

Stage 3: Salleri – Deng
Stage 4: Deng – Namrung
Stage 5: Namrung – Shyala
Stage 6: Shyala – Samagaun

Stage 8: Samagaun – Samdo
Stage 9: Samdo – Dharmashala
Stage 10: Dharmashala – Bhimthang
Stage 11: Bhimthang – Goa
Stage 12: Goa - Tilche
A short stage of just over 6 km, but with almost 700 m of elevation gain. Today's route passes the Larkey glacier. From today onwards we return to the alpine landscape area.
We started in Samdo to reach Dharmashala walking along a path that is continuously uphill except for the final part of arrival at the village.
Dharmashala is not a permanent settlement but is a lodge that serves as accommodation during trekking and is only open for part of the year, approximately 4 months.
We will sleep at an altitude of about 4,400 m. It will not be easy, but it will help us to acclimatize, although after reaching Dharmashala we will ascend again (off-track) about 200 m above the town to continue with the process of adaptation to the altitude.
Time to rest, because tomorrow we have the queen stage of the trek with the passage through the Larke Pass, at more than 5,000m, the highest point of our trek.
