Damn. Today has been the toughest. Here I thought, Summit Attack Day (Day 5) would take the whole cake, but boy was I so wrong. And when you've been lugging around at least 29kg worth of shit you need, daily, with no daypack excursions (Yes, 7 days straight of carrying 29kg worth of shit🤣), today is the toughest. Dragon-back, steep ascent (and descent), steep rock climbs, with such weight on your back, PHEW! But, when you've reach your end-goal destination for the day, the sense of accomplishment, nothing can beat that. Added bonus of course, the views, wow. I've done many summits, many trans/thru-hikes, but coming back to Tahan, for the second time, and this time from Kuala Tahan, I gotta say, nothing beats the views you get anywhere, even Kinabalu, like what I've experienced, so far, doing KT2M. Loving it!
*Campsite Note: Open, surrounded by bonsais, elevation of at least in the 2000s, it is cold, with continuous strong winds blowing! But, the view! If you've done Mount Tahan, at least just via Merapoh, it is exactly like Botak Campsite, BUT, WAY, WAY, WAYYYY COLDER. However, the water source is damn far. And if you're me, reaching only at 17:25, there's so many needed done. Especially when you know rain is coming. So, no beautiful night sky view, and no backup water, for me. However, definitely gonna be up early, at least to catch sunrise, and of course, get my water! Also, like Botak Campsite, there's rats. So, keep your foodstuff, secure.
Here's our itinerary for Day 4;
04:00 breakfast and packing
05:10 start hike
06:18 Botak Hill
08:35 Sarsi Hill
09:59 Wray's Campsite
11:14 Pangkin Campsite. Lunch
14:40 Mount Tangga
15:43 Mount Reskitt
17:23 Gedong Campsite. Set-up camp
18:00 Dinner

Gedung Campsite
My Shelter, emergency tent setup, with floor, from just one 4X3 groundsheet Water Source available, but damn far. Location map is in description

Beautiful Valley of Rock Walls
Beautiful and mesmerizing as it may be, however, the rock climb, with just one ladder, over a steep ascent of at least 150 meters, was way dangerous. But when you've reached halfway, or the top of the climb, take a breather, and look back at how magnificent, the view is. And damn... Pictures don't do enough justice to how beautiful, steep and dangerous this section is.

Wray's Campsite
No Water Source! Viewpoint, overlooking Gedung Campsite, where we'll be staying, later.

Indeed. The toughest days of all. But, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Worth it!
