Itinerary description
From Bukit Tampin to Bukit Datuk
Damn. I am soooo... out of shape🤣. Struggling like mad.
It's rare that KLH organizes hardcore trips like this. The last time they did was aeons ago. However, being that the state is closing its forest from tomorrow onwards (November 20) until the foreseeable future, due to monsoon season, they decided to take the opportunity to be one of the last groups going in.
Wow. So many changes to the trail, compared to when I last did it in 2018. The river is crossable, without getting your shoes wet, thanks to some kind souls arranging stepping stones. Also, it seems that the river is much shallower, compared to before. It used to be, in some places, knee-deep. Maybe due to sedimentation.
The trail itself, 90% of it is like a highway, nary any bushes/obstacles, and muddy as hell. Maybe due to the trail's popularity. Some places still have obstacles in the way, naturally, such as fallen bamboo shoots, fallen trees, etc.
P.S: There is a bit of confusion among us who recorded the trail today. Most get 16 to 17km, and some 19km. My recording shows 22km. Weird.
Waypoints
Puncak 705
Reached by 08:58 Note: Be aware of a sharp left turn upward here, leading to a big boulder. This turn is easily missed, due to a long strip or marker denoting a straight way through, RIGHT at the sharp left-turn. Miss this, and you shall missed Puncak 705, which is atop that big boulder. Some of my group members missed it.
Water Source
Reached by 09:30 Don't cross here! Just follow the clear trail. It'll lead to Camp Ultra.

Bukit Datuk
Reached by 14:26 For the first time ever, since I've been to this summit, many a times before, this place was deserted. No one around. Usually, it's like a bloody pasar malam!
