Swampy, muddy trails: ALL THE WAY!

Technical. Very technical. In terms of difficulty, it's just moderate, for me at least😅
This trail, basically 95% of it consists of water and mud, some form or other. From the get go (Church Camp), all the way to Murud's. The only difference is, from Church Camp to the Small Falls, the trail mainly consists of swampy, muddy trails, complete with slippery stones and slippery tree roots. From Small Falls onwards, it's stream trails, with deep bogs and marshes, all the way to the summit.
Kudos and good luck, to all who wishes to attempt this trip, with plans on staying dry. I'll tell you now, it's highly impossible😅🤣🤣🤣
The biggest prize, however, if it's bright and sunny, on Murud's peak, a beautiful 360° view, with the sacred Mount Batu Lawi, Mulu, Brunei & some mountains towards Kalimantan can be seen from afar, and of course, Reked Meligan aka Church Camp. We weren't so lucky on this trip. It rained, and with that, thick cloud cover, obscuring the view. And being that high in the clouds, when it rains, it gets deathly cold. Risk of hypothermia is high here. Bring what you need to maintain warmth.

Note: Decided to not mark any landmarks found, at least until reaching the Small Falls. Had to really watch my footings. Everything here is slippery, being that it's covered with moss and perpetually wet. And thus, you'd only see aforementioned landmarks, upon my return.

There's streams, here and there, but the locals preferred rain water for cooking, and used the tannins-stained water for washing, toilet and whatnots Shelter: Huts Standing at 2050m asl, Reked Meligan is essentially an uninaibited enclave where the Kelabits and the Lun Bawangs of Christian Protestant faith (Borneo Evangelical Church/Sidang Injil Borneo) built houses to accommodate their biannual pilgrimage to the sacred Mount Murud and Batu Linanit

Tannins-stained water. While it may be aesthetically displeasing, and may impart a slight bitterness to the water, tannins do not pose a health or medical issue. You're welcome to filter it, but do note that it shortens the life-spans of most name-brands filters in the market

Reached by 09:55 Here is the main concentration of these strange-shaped, weathered boulders in sacred Rock Garden. Rock Garden area actually started from the small falls, all the way to parts of Mount Murud, as explained by our guide.
