Itinerary description
The trail from Rifugio Pastore to Col de Turlo is well maintained. It served as the main trasportation path from Macugnaga to Alagna in the ancient age. Follow the signs from Refugio Pastore. You will not get lost anyway. The trail is clear. The ascent is long but pleasant. The weather was cloudy and foggy but fortunately it wasn't rainy or windy. Close and at the Col de Turlo (2732 m), there was about 30 cm of snow. The traverse there was not particularly difficult. It was foggy and we couldn't admire the sceneries. On the way down, too many zigzags and the snow made the descent softer on our knees. Gradually the view cleared up and we were having magnificent views all around: valleys, mountains, meadows, rivers and waterfalls. The descent to Macugnaga is long but nice. Much of the descent is done till your reach the river and then you will be walking mainly next to the river till Macugnaga.
