Itinerary description
The weather was expected to be good on our third day so we decided to stick to our plan and reach Gressoney La Trinité via Col Pinter. This variante is much more better than the normal TMR route from Résy to Gabiet where you will be hiking mainly under ski lifts. We started our hike with a 300m ascent on a dirt car road leading to Frachey lift. From there, we went south following the alpine route 1 to Crest. Near the Champoluc-Crest lift station, we followed the route 1 till the Col Pinter 2777 m. This trail is awesome with beautiful sceneries all around. Just before the final push to the Col, you can go right and visit Pinter lake. After the Col, we started what seemed to be an endless descent towards Lys valley. After 1000m descent , we reached the charming Refuge Alpenzu Grande (1780 m) where we had a drink before continuing to Gressoney La Trinité. Next to Alpenzu Grande, there is a big old tree and the trail 1W passes behind this tree (This is the Wasler trail). From this point, always follow the 1W signs. On wikiloc map, this trail seems to end at "Alpenzu Picccolo" but in fact, this trail continues all the way to Gressoney La Trinité. It is clearly shown on the map of "maps.me" application. I strongly recommend you download this application and the maps of the tour, all the trails and waypoints are clearly marked there. This 1W trail is pleasant and goes through the forest till Gressoney La Trinité. We spent our night at the amazing Dufour hotel.
