Itinerary description
Nice linear trail, which partially goes along grand gorge with river Siapani at the bottom, which is not seen but well heard.
We walked the official trail, which is marked on the map (up to the ruins of the church), plus official extension which goes further and along one of the gorge arms but didn’t make it in full and returned back making a loop. If you want to walk the official extension to the end, you have to cross “the arm” to the opposite shore at the point where we climbed up to return back. To my assumption the trail goes along the opposite shore for some time and then ends. We saw a sign pointing to the nature trail on our way back.
TERRAIN: mainly dirt roads, concrete roads and rocky paths. Mild ups and downs. On the way back in order to make a loop we used goat paths to climb up, which were narrow and steep.
SEASON: the trail is sun exposed. Dirt roads my become partially muddy after the rains.
SIGNS: there are direction signs to get you through the village but then they disappear, a few maps, plenty of plant signs and benches (including extension). No signs and benches on our way back as it was unofficial part.
KIDS: walkable with kids starting as young as 4-5, if they manage the distance. There is even protective fence along some part of the gorge.
