Itinerary description

This hike will take you up the Myrtle Point Trail to the Blues Head Trail and then back on the Florida Trail. You will enter all kinds of ECOSystems - palm woods, pine woods, oak hammocks, wetlands and just open grassy areas. The only good blazing is the Florida Trail (orange blazes). Along Myrtle Point Trail and Blues Head Trail you will see metal red markers put up by the horse group. It is pretty hard to get lost on either of those trails because they actually are roads which once wound through the WMA. The only drawback is that you might hit water as you enter the wetlands section of the Myrtle Trail. I have hiked through the water, but it can get pretty mean - wet and muddy! Unless your into doing the loop, I suggest if there is water on the trail, turnaround and head back! I believe that you could ride a bike on these trails, horses are welcome on those two road trails, but not on the Florida Trail. The times I did it I had the whole place to myself. There are some GEOCaches along these trails. You must park at the primitive camping area just up the road to access this trail.
