Tolfa - Anello del Biancone
Il percorso si sviluppa tra la macchia ed il bosco intorno al Monte Cavone (386 mslm), offrendo, nella prima parte del tracciato suggestivi panorami, sia verso la boscaglia quasi incontaminata che verso la costa caratterizza dal Castello di Santa Severa.
Il percorso parte dal parcheggio di un agriturismo (Casale Rimessa della Fiera), per evitare problemi dovuti alla chiusura del cancello è preferibile lasciare la macchina sulla strada provinciale (SP3b) pochi metri dopo l’ingresso del Casale in corrispondenza di uno slargo, altrimenti la si può lasciare qualche centinaio di metri prima in corrispondenza dell’inizio del percorso ippico della “Cicugnola”.
La parte iniziale del percorso si inerpica rapidamente tra la macchia fino a Poggio Finocchiara, per poi proseguire lungo il bosco. Vi consigliamo di soffermarvi a rimirare il panorama anche alle vostre spalle, da alcuni scori potrete vedere la costa, il mare e il Castello di Santa Severa, così come sopra di voi potrete scorgere una ricca avifauna, compreso il Biancone ed altri rapaci.
La seconda parte del percorso si snoda oltre la strada provinciale, che si attraversa dopo essere ridiscesi dal Monte Cavone attraverso la macchia di Santa Caterina, prima di giungere alla provinciale si incontra un guado, ed in uno slargo due splendide querce centenarie abbracciate, dopo di che si raggiunge lo “Stazzalone”, qui inizia la seconda parte del tracciato, segnata dall’attraversamento della provinciale (potete scegliere se passare sotto il ponte o attraversare la strada attraversando tre cancelli - uno si apre gli altri vanno scavalcati - in entrambi i casi dovrete comunque attraversare un guado).
La seconda parte del percorso si snoda tra il Rio Fiume e la provinciale, fate attenzione perché in alcuni tratti il sentiero non è segnato in maniera evidente, comunque di regola - nel nostro caso è stato così - non attraversate cancelli, rischiate di trovarvi dalla parte sbagliata del filo spinato che contiene il bestiame.
L’ultimo tratto è lungo la provinciale.
Lungo tutto il percorso si incontrano alcuni guadi di facile attraversamento, così come alcuni animali allo stato brado (asini e mucche maremmane), attenzione che qualche volta si incontrano anche moto da cross.

The route runs between the bush and the forest around the Monte Cavone (386 msl), providing, in the first part of the track, great views, of the untouched bushland and of the seacoast with the Castle of Santa Severa.
The path start from the parking of a farmhouse (Casale Rimessa della Fiera) - to avoid problems due to the closure of the gate is preferable to leave the car on the road (SP3b) a few meters after the entrance of the Casale there is a “little” space on the right side of the road, otherwise the you can leave a few hundred meters before the Casale at the beginning of the equestrian path "Cicugnola".
The initial part of the trail climbs rapidly through the scrub to Poggio Finocchiara, then continue along the wood. We advise you to look the scene also to your shoulders, you can see the coast, the sea and the Santa Severa Castle. You can see a rich bird life, including the Biancone and other birds of prey.
The second part of the route runs over the road (SP3b), which crosses after descending from Monte Cavone through the scrub of Santa Caterina, before reaching the road meets a ford, and a two beautiful hugged oak trees, after that reaches "Stazzalone" here begins the second part of the track, marked by the crossing of the provincial (you can choose to go under the bridge or cross the road through three gates - one opens the others must be climbed over - in both cases you still have to cross a ford).
The second part of the route runs between the Rio River and the road SP3a, be careful because in some places the path is not so evident, however, as a rule - in our case it was so - do not cross gates, you might find yourself on the wrong side of barbed wire that contains the cattle.
The last stretch is along the main road.
Along all the way you will encounter some fords easy crossing, as well as some wild animals (donkeys and cows), beware that sometimes you can also see some off-road motorcycling.

Out of all the trails we have done here, this one would be my least favourite. I think the trail to Monte Cavone summit is great and that should be it, from there I would recommend to turn around and head back to Natura e Cavallo for a beer. The trail past Cavone is mainly on a dirt road that descends back to the valley and has limited views - although the terrain is pretty, the trail is quite rutted from dirt bikes and muddy. Once you descend to the river, there are no views and in fact the trail becomes overgrown in spots. My guess is most folks hiking this trail would find this part unenjoyable - for me with a 3.5 year old toddler it was even more difficult to get through the bush. The trail description says the last part is on the provincial road, but the GPS map appears to follow a trail by the river. We followed the river trail and it was quite poor and not recommended, I would suggest to walk along the road if you do the loop. We didnt see much wildlife but we found lots of snakes, especially down by the river. Trail is easy to follow but there are a few junctions and having the GPS was nice. Sentiero segnato solo nella prima parte. Dalla discesa dal monte Cavone in poi non c'è più alcun segno né rosso ne di altri colori, ma seguendo le descrizioni e i suggerimenti di chi l'ha fatto, non è difficile rimanere sulla strad giusta.

Riprendendo il post precedente di mrs.pinca4 sentiero è segnato molto bene con dei segni rossi solo nella prima parte fino del Monte Cavone poiché il sentiero si biforca in corrispondenza della cima . Questa traccia segue il sentiero sulla sinistra che rimane sempre perfettamente visibile anche in assenza di segni.
Altre tracce di Wikiloc nominate "Anello del Biancone" seguono invece il sentiero di destra, di circa 4 km più breve.
