Itinerary description
Right from our hotel (Auberge Camping Atlas) we entered the ‘trail’ next to the river in direction of the Kasbah. As you see, you can also choose to start this route in the Kasbah and then do only the mountain trek (also a circular route). We walked without a guide, so sometimes we got a bit off route in search for the best direction to follow.
It is not very difficult to walk this route without a guide. In most places the paths are easy to find. We started the mountain trek from the Kasbah. We walked through the town cemetary up on the hill until we found a clearly visible path. It was quite a climb and when we reached the top of that kliff we had to go right, up another kliff (first we followed the path straight on for a bit, that was the wrong way!).
The mark-towers of rocks are clearly visible so the path is easy to follow. After crossing a small nomad camp, the path led us through the cliff and then down to the road again. When going down, stay on the right side of the cliff!
We walked to the Toghda kliff and then continued our way back to the Kasbah via the community gardens (also an amazing part of the route) and then back to the hotel.
