Itinerary description
📌 Completed one of my dream hikes - Trans TNBYY and G6 checked 🎉🎉
Start 🚩 and 🔚 end same at Pos Rengil
I have always wanted to go G Tok Nenek as I was told that it offers very beautiful 360 view and its a must to go. Initially the hike was YYBTN (reverse) and won't be able to see sunrise at Tok Nenek peak. Luckily the organiser was kind enough to change the itinerary to do TN first. This change made 2nd day tougher as everyone expected to carry more water to last for about 14 hours hike. Standard trip for this is 3d2n (normal pace), 2d1n (normal-fast pace), or daypack (friends did within 24 hours hike).
Conquered 3️⃣ Peaks
✅⛰️Gunung Tok Nenek 1916m
✅⛰️Gunung Bubu 1974m
✅⛰️G6 Gunung Yong Yap 2168m
Total distance 42km, Elevation Gain 2700m, Moving time 20 hours+/-
My difficulty level - 8.5/10 due to load. Terrain not very hard but long. Train harder before going, and be well prepared in all circumstances.
My longest km so far and longest hours hike on Day 2 with 13-15kg load......!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉This is probably my toughest hike so far due to the load and long hours hike on 2nd day.

Started hike at 9.30am
1. Kem Agas⌚10.20am
2. Simpang Y⌚12.40pm
🔚Reached Pos Renggil at 2pm 🎉🎉(Hooray!!!)
Day 1 hike wasn't that bad, just never ending and mostly steady uphill. Perhaps all of us were very excited about the hike and dont really feel tired. Few river crossing but mostly knee level, trail not difficult. We were an hour early to reach our campsite. Waterpoint at Kem Berlumut is not that great (not a river). Weather was great, not cold but many sandflies.
Day 2 hike was the killer. We were expected to hike for 14 hours with more water as the next water point is only at the next campsite. There will be Kem Lopak Air ard 10am where that's the last waterpoint, but as the name suggest, it may be few puddles of water. So most of us didnt want to risk it and had to carry ard 3L water to last for 14 hours. We woke up at 3am to get ready, cook breakfast, break camp.
Part 2.1 - Fr Kem Berlumut to Gunung Tok Nenek peak, it is all the way UP UP UP with steep trails. But the suffering is so so so worth it as we were rewarded with magnificient 360 view of the whole range of Banjaran Titiwangsa mountains, can see all G7 mountains!! There is no other mountains can offer this view!!! I really lost for words when I was standing at the peak with 360 view. I must say - every hikers with good stamina MUST hike up to this Gunung Tok Nenek. It is really incredible and heavenly. Had my coffee up there while enjoying sunrise, the magnificient view and the cold breeze. Unfortunately, that day the peak was packed with almost 40 hikers due to long weekend. Hardly can find good spots to take nice pictures. I will definitely go again!!
Part 2.2 - The trails fr TN to G.Bubu offers very nice mossy forest although there is no view at Bubu peak. Beautiful view at Puncak Kayong where you can see Gunung Bubu peak and Gunung YY peak so clearly, near and yet so far. Nice place to rest at Bubu peak before continue hike.
Part 2.3 - This is where I fell pretty badly😰 . Happened during descend fr Bubu. The terrain was steep and no steps. My hand slipped when my short legs couldn't touch the ground. I fell backwards with my bag and the bag waist strap hit my rib. Although nothing serious but left rib still hurts. Well, gotta be more careful next time.
Part 2.4 - We left our load at Simpang Bubu-YY and change to daypack to summit G. YY. Very steep trails all the way up to peak and we took 30mins to summit. Not much view at peak but nice mossy forest along the way.
Part 2.5 - After summitting G.YY, our next goal is to quickly reach campsite. We were all exhausted and hungry at that time. We took 1.5 hours to reach campsite, all the way downhill. Love Kem Sg Jerok as the river was clean, easy access and mostly flat ground. Had really good sleep with the sound of river flows and after tough and long hike.
Day 3 hike was more of recovery hike as its just descending gradually and pretty nice hike with few river crossing. Heavy rain throughout the hike, but luckily river crossing still safe. Nothing much to see throughout the trail, no big trees, not much flora too.
Clear trails and clearly marked? : Yes, trails are very clear and pretty clearly marked, especially after river crossing, there will be markers across the river.
Leeches? : I was lucky, didnt see any
Will I revisit? : Definitely Yes for Gunung Tok Nenek, and maybe for Bubu (for the mossy forest) and NO for Yong Yap as the trail has nothing much to offer, no views at peak also.
I must repeat going up to Gunung Tok Nenek, and hopefully less crowd!! Every hikers with good stamina must must must go!!!
