Itinerary description
Tilla Charouni is the highest peak of Margala Hills National Park in Islamabad, Pakistan. Its altitude is 1604 m. It is also the highest peak of District Islamabad and District Haripur as it is on the boundary of both districts.
It is covered with pine trees and is a few minutes hike from Pir-Sohawa road.
Several tracks go to the top starting from Shahdara valley and Loh-e-dandi, Rumli village.
There are three towers and a army camp on the top.
We opted Shadara route. There are two routes from there aswel.
One that passes through Shumber Water fall, it was a little technical so came back and tried the usual route. which passes through Naryas village.
We knew there would be dogs in the village and there were. We tried to avoid the dogs.
Especially on our way back, in order to avoid them we went off route and wearing half sleeves, my arms were fully scratched by thorns.
Just 20 minutes before the Top, we reached a small meadow where there was fresh water spring. We took breakfast there.
After which we hiked to the top. There are not good views at the top so don't be disappointed.
You can see Shahdara a little. Back side is completely covered by the trees so you. Even front side is either ridge or forest.
There is an abandoned pole, you can try climbing that. We did not spend much time there and were on our way back.
It would have been nicer to traverse there, and come back via loh-e-dandi or another route.
Before the village, there is a spectacular point which is best for the pictures but we also missed that as there were lots of bushes.
