Itinerary description

Gorice e Madhe- Pllaja e Pusit and back. Alternatively to continue from Pllaja e Pusit to Alarup. This trail starts from the sign board on the National Road between the village Gorice e Madhe and the border station to N- Macedonia. It leads from the lowlands of Prespa National Park to its highest point Pllaja e Pusit (2288m asl). The trail offers to experience various habitats: open meadows, oak forests, beach forest and mountain pastures. It is a quite lenghty ascent, but the view from the Peak rewards you for all your sweat. You can see three lakes (Ohrid, great and lesser Prespa lakes) and all three bordering countries (Albania, Greece, and N-Macedonia). Another historic feature to mention is the remainings of bunkers from Enver Hoxha times on the peak of the mountains from where the neighburing countries were observed in the past. From the peak you can decent back to the Prespa side, or you follow the trail 7 or 7A to the villges Alarup or Peshkepi, from where you need to organize transport back.
This trail is accessible from Mid May to November without snow shoes. In summer you should take an insect repellent.
