Arrive at a junction with Little Joe Lake Trail 1330.1. Turn left and continue slightly uphill on the gravel road.

Turn left off the gravel road onto Thorp Creek Trail #1316.
Clear cut
The trail hikes through areas of clear-cut, which provides good views of the valley.

For a quick side trip, turn left and follow the Thorp Lake Trail #1316.1 for a quarter mile to Thorp Lake. Continue uphill to head toward the lookout.

Arrive at a junction with Kachess Ridge Trail #1315. Turn left to continue toward the summit of Thorp.

A small point offers a decent vantage point of the Thorp Creek Valley.

The trail attains a saddle in the ridge. Turn right and head uphill on Thorp Mountain Trail #1315.2
