Itinerary description
Pretty sure the distance here is wrong, have seen other recordings of half the kms, and as you can see by the trail, the gps was struggling to pin a location (our hiking was not that erratic!!) Starting from old mill rd, by the national parks fire trail gate. Followed another persons trail, which stopped us from getting lost (highly recommend this as there are lots of trails on the approach to the first steamer / funnel, many of which may just be from the cows, so very easy to get lost). Once you hit the base of the cliff, it’s pretty easy to follow the trail along to the end. Very steep and slippery in some sections. The summit / view point is very exposed in some areas, so take care. Pretty sure you can go to the top of the prow from the funnel along the ridge too, but not something we tried this time. Took us 2.5hrs up, 30mins on top, 2hrs down.
