Itinerary description
Amazing hiking starting at Golden Rock, going to The Source, and then, connecting with the other popular trail: The Waterfalls.
Very easy until the Water Collector. After that the path narrows and bends to the left, becoming a little more challenging.
You have to be very careful going down the very slippery steps. After that could be difficult to find the path at your right. You'll arrive to a little waterfall in a gorge at the top of which is a small dam creating a water reservoir, very difficult to reach through the terribly slippery rocks with no ropes at all.
I thought that was The Source, but not, you can follow an almost inexistent path to the right. You'll find that the pipe is replaced by a water channel, pretty difficult to follow, if you don't jump inside.
When the channel becomes again a pipe, the path is almost inexistent a very difficult to follow. It's low season and I think there is no maintenance of the trail. I was looking for the famous iron ladder, but there was one point in which I thought it was too dangerous to keep going, Sucha shame not to find The Source. I'm pretty sure I was close.
After going back to the little dam and pass it, I found a rope inviting me going down hill. I was looking for the connection between this trail and the waterfalls, and that rope seems to be the connection!
It was really hard and some times too dangerous. There was a point in which it was clearly impossible to go back (too many ropes down in almost vertical walls) and I wasn't sure how to go forward, at the top of a waterfall, extremely slippery and with a big fall. Very scary.
But finally I found the way and I found the Waterfall. From there it's much easier to take the trail to Prison Farm than the impossible way back to Golden Rock.
So...very exciting hike, pretty difficult, a little dangerous in some points (specially going alone as I did), but absolutely worth it.
