Itinerary description

This trail is one of Kalopanagiotis trails net, most routes of which start/end at Lampadistis monastery and can be combined.
Route 1 - The River Trail
Route 2 - The Viewpoint Trail (https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/the-viewpoint-trail-route-2-kalopanagiotis-90724464 )
Route 2a - The Viewpoint Trail (longer one)
Route 3 - The vineyard Trail (https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/the-vineyard-trail-route-3-kalopanagiotis-86571843 )
Route 3a - The vineyard Trail (longer one) ( https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/cy-the-vineyard-trail-route-3a-kalopanagiotis-153148786 )

Easy and very nice trail, especially if you are staying in Kalopanagiotis, don’t miss it. A few medieval bridges, old watermill, the village itself, Lampadistis monastery - a lot to see around.
Depending on a ripening season one can taste along the way plums, apples, figs, grapes, pomegranates, nuts, etc.

TERRAIN: predominantly narrow forest paths but there are some paved roads, part of the trail goes through the village of Kalopanagiotis. Easy ascents and a few steep but short descents. In dry seasons may be slippery due to rolling stones and dry soil, poles would be good to have.

SIGNS: very good signposted.

SEASON: maybe good for every season. About 40% in shade, thus in summers it’s good in mornings and late afternoons, starting from 5pm and onwards.

KIDS: perfect for kids. I guess min age maybe 4 yo with adult supervision. A lot of interesting things to see and explore apart from the river itself. No prams.

Parking is around the monastery or there is an alternative spot which i indicated along the trail.

I have followed this trail  verified  View more

Really great walk and manageable even on the sunniest days as plenty of shade on route.

Scenery is very beautiful especially the parts that are directly along the riverside.

Terrain a little bit slippy due to loose stones at only one point and otherwise very easy to navigate in trainers.

Quite a steep incline in a couple of places although none lasted for too long.

Very enjoyable even though not regular hikers. So much so that planning another one for tomorrow
