Itinerary description
A mix of nice weather and the best of scenery at this time of the year!
There is a gradual ascent from the starting point at Galway’s bridge (Derrycunihy) to the highest point on this section of the Old Kenmare road (at 4km). The road continues down to Kenmare from here (skirting some woods along the way).
However, could not resist turning right towards the top of Peakeen mountain (555m) instead, to see what is on the other side… rewarded with some great views of Kenmare Bay and the mountains to the west.
