Itinerary description
The Old Kenmare Road is one of Kerry's best known trails.
Although popular, most people do not hike the full length of the route without transport at the other end near Kenmare.
As with this hike... started on the Killarney side as far as a junction which is roughly half way and where one can ideally finish or start a new journey in different directions.
This hike is especially interesting for it's variety of scenery... from open landscape to woodland paths.
At this time of the year waterproof footwear is recommended for some sections.
It is a four to five hour hike depending on pace and number of breaks.
