Itinerary description
Arguably the best dayhike from Mestia with awesome views of both Ushba as well as the Svaneti range. It is recommendable to take a taxi towards the Mestia cross to start from here; the first stretch is densely wooded and insanely steep if you don't want to follow the 4*4 road. Leaving the cross, as well as the timberline, behind, a majestic view towards the Russian border unfolds. The trail is never hard, though some 400 m of elevation gain needs to be covered. Just 10 minutes before reaching them, the Koruldi lakes come into sight. Unfortunately, due to the presence of lounging horses and cows, these lakes are not inviting for a quick dive. However, the commanding views more than compensate for this.
