Itinerary description
The Enchantments takes you to one of the most beautiful, unique and solitary sceneries in the State of Washington. Not without a considerable effort if done in one day like we did this route.
This is real alpine trekking with passages in complex and diverse terrain, boulders, snow, rivers, roots... The elevation gain from Stuart trailhead is 2.100 meters/6300' and in addition the 2700m/7100' descent is not always an easy trail.
If you don't have an overnight permit this is the only way to do it , and it is worth the effort. You can apply to the yearly lottery for campsites if you want to spend more time in this beautiful area.
It is important that your shoes are the most comfortable you have. No real need for hard boots. We did it in trail running shoes Salomon Lab and Hokas. Poles highly recommended. Bring headlight as you may finish after dusk.

Fantastic picture. We live in a wonderful place. The Enchantments are spectacular.

Amazing trek. However my legs did hurt for couple of days after that.. thanks to going down the Aasgard pass !
