Itinerary description
An overnight solo exploration of the Devil's Sign Post Carnarvon Gorge. It could be completed as a solid day walk. Off track with relatively straight forward navigation for experienced bushwalkers. From the 'rockpool' day use area I crossed the creek and attained the ridge on the other side. Following the ridge leads to a meandering ascent to the base of this spectacular rock formation. There are wind blow 'caves' on the Eastern face, and rock columns with crevices to explore at the Northern end. The very brave might attempt an exposed scramble up the North edge perhaps most of the way to the summit. I found a small hillock to pitch my tent for night near the East face. A larger camp could be found in the gully to the West. Overall a very nice walk.
