Itinerary description

This route follows Logans Ridge up to East Peak and descends West Peak via Savages Ridge. Navigation wise this route is fairly easy till the summit of west peak is reached. From here the route goes off track. West peak is descended via an reasonably straight forward but heavily vegetated cliff break. The last cliff-line can be be down-climbed or alternatively it can be abseiled (though there are not many good anchor points). From here progress is hampered by thick heath till the ridge steepens and becomes tree covered. About halfway down we had to scramble down a slippery shelf below a cliff line which was particularly sketchy, however this could be avoided by contouring around to the right hand side of the ridge when you reach this point. Other than this there were no scrambling difficulties and if you maintain the ridge the whole way down it is actually much less steep than the main ridges up East Peak. Unfortunately this ridge is ruined by a very thick patch of Lantana covering its southern reaches making progress unbearbly slow and painfull (literally). Because of this we ended up exiting the ridge early and crossing over the gully to the left hand side to reach the South Ridge track and return to the vehicles.

Overall there were excellent views from both Logans and Savages Ridge, though I won't be Walking Savages Ridge again unless it gets burned at some point (my legs literally got savaged even with gators on!)
