The Avonmore Way, from RATHDRUM - Laragh, and through Clara Vale, Wicklow, Ireland.

We did this walk with the An Oige Hiking group. The group bus took us to the starting point at Stump of the Castle Forest Entrance (this is just the name of the area as there is no Castle). We walked a mixture of minor roads, forest roads and tracks, until we reached Clara Vale where there is a picnic area and the lovely little Clara Vale Church, which we visited as it was open. Following a rest in Clara Vale we continued through Trooperstown Hill and then on to Laragh. It is a lovely walk, but maybe a little too much road walking. There are lovely views.
There is a train service to Rathdrum and Bus services from both Laragh and Rathdrum, so it is possible to organise to do a linear walk and return by bus.
The forest area and the route alongside the Avonmore River are the most attractive parts of this walk. It is suitable for all active people and even family walks.
It is one of the top 10 walks in the Wicklow area and is close to Glendalough where there are other attractive walks. Highly recommended.

Hicimos esta ruta con el grupo An Oige Hiking. El autobús del grupo nos llevó al punto de partida en la endrada conocido como Stump of the Castle (este es solo el nombre de la zona ya que no hay Castillo). La ruta pasa por caminos menores, caminos forestales y senderos, hasta que llegamos a Clara Vale, donde hay un área de picnic y la encantadora pequeña Iglesia de Clara Vale, que visitamos como estaba abierta. Después de un descanso en Clara Vale, continuamos por Trooperstown Hill y luego hasta Laragh. Es un paseo encantador, pero tal vez hay que caminar demasiado por la carretera. Hay preciosas vistas.
Hay un servicio de tren a Rathdrum desde Dublín y servicios de autobús desde Laragh y Rathdrum, por lo que es posible organizarse para hacer una ruta linear y regresar en autobús.
