Itinerary description

A remote trail located in Peru and considered one of the best alpine hiking in the world. Circle the sacred Ausangate Massif and experience fantastic glacier views. There are 4 high passes and hotsprings at the start and finish of the trek.

    Trek I really recommend. I've done it on November 2013 solo.
    You have to get used to the altitude (max 5200 mosl and most part over 4000) but it is never really steep.
    For those who don't have GPS (yet - like me), you can find a quite simple but sufficient topographic map in Cuzco for 35 Soles (with Choquequirao/Salkantay/Inca Trail and Ausangate).

    Physically demanding trekking. Good physical preparation is necessary (Be carefull with the high altitude). Great equipment are essential.

    Hi ronrozzen !
    I had the fortune to do the trek around the Apu Ausangate, last May 2017, adding 1 day of walking to cross the Vinicunca Mountain and the trip was wonderful !
