Availability:
Starting from Arughat at the altitude of 570m, the main goal of the trek is to cross over the Larkya La (5135m). The first part of the trek leads you through the walls of the Buri Gandaki river valley, which is perpendicular and involves a heavy amount of climbing. As you trek up to the upper Buri Gandaki, you will reach Tibetan inhabitants of a region known as Nupri. Here, people's speech, dress and customs are exclusively Tibetan, as Nupri is still a trade access point for the border people. The mountain views at Nupri are sensational and the crossing of the Larkya La is one of the most dramatic of any passes in the Himalaya. After the Larkya La pass the trail descends down towards the Marshyandi valley, this is where the famous Annapurna circuit trek starts.
Join us for the voyage of a lifetime on our 3-week trek in Manaslu. Explore the sights of Kathmandu in-depth and the way they were meant to be seen. Visit Manaslu and let us show you the combination of rich cultural heritage and unsurpassed beauty that contribute to its great bio-diversity.

Wear proper clothing for leeches, there’s a lot on the way, turn back if it starts raining as the paths become really difficult . Bring water and snacks , we started at 10.30 and returned At 4 pm, stopped for swim breaks ..The swim in the gorge was sensational!! Just finished and exhausted;)
So about this trail, i feel like i have to share a few things.
This trail is in fact the shortest version, there is no long version on wikilocs yet.
At the khao sok national park entrance the ranger will explain to you and tell you that: you can only hike to the first three checkpoints(waterfalls etc) without a guide and that after that you will need a guide, now you might want to take knowledge about the next things:
The first three are indeed the easiest, with kids, on flipsflops, in swimmingshorts.. all no problem at all. But..
If you want to have a full day hike/trekking through khao sok, you can just forget about the specifics(duration, distance etc) from this trail.
Pack for a full day hike, leave as early as possible and take note of the time, so that you can make sure you turn around and go back half way before sunset.
After the firsts three checkpoints there are good marks everywhere, on where to go.. you can hike the entire day, without wikiloc, just follow the signs.
Indeed after the first three checkpoint there is a sign not to continue without a guide, but.. there is no ranger checking if anyone does, and so everyone just continues.
So keep in mind, yes if you continue after the first three, wear proper hiking shoes, maybe a long pants agains leaches and a stick or hiking sticks can be usefull. Bring enough food and water and turn around halfway the day.
No guide needed, have fun, its an awesome place!
