Itinerary description
A good hike just north of Port-au-Prince. The starting point of the hike is about 600 meter above the sea and the summit is at around 1200 meter. But with the other minor ups and downs, you will climb and descend about 1000 meter. It will take you about 4 hours to complete the walk.
The track is quite easy to follow. Almost all the track, you will follow an easy trail passing between the small villages along the way. The track is well marked with bushes and small trees at both sides. You will need to keep an eye on the GPS as there are many intersections.
Along the way, you will come through a few villages, but don't expect you can buy anything along the way, so make sure you bring enough water and a snack with you.
You need to follow the way points to get to the starting point of the hike. The road is about 10 km, but it's a very bad road. You will need to have a descent 4WD car and some experience in driving them to get to the starting point.
As you will need to cross a river and follow the riverbed of another, you can only do this hike during the dry season when there is no water in the river.
And a final note: As it gets quite hot in the afternoon, it's highly recommended to do this hike as early as possible.
