Itinerary description
We set out from sleepy Terrateig and tackled, almost immediately, a testing road climb of about 10 minutes duration. That got to lunges working! Tramped along through woodland and puddles to the bottom of the long and winding road. Up, up and more up, but fairly gentle with it for most of the way. And what fabulous views emerged nearer the top!
Casa graffiti, disappointingly, has had a lick of paint. No more swastikas and "puta" references on the walls - somebody somewhere cares about this lonely outpost. Some took lunch here, others went on to the farmhouse with the grapes. It took a bit of ingenuity to reach the ripe fruit. Pity to see them go to waste!
Sorry, but I haven´t been able to find the name of the massif overlooking the farm. That map sheet has walked.
Now for the route home. It began with more water hazards, quickly followed by a series of fallen trees dating from the immense fire that swept through these mountains two or three years back. The final descent became difficult and decidedly dodgy, especially for those who went over. More lovely views higher up, though, so in a way it was worth it. (Discuss!)
Four hours plus again, and 13.8km according to Terry (but only 12.5 according to Michelle... but what does she know?)
