Itinerary description
Parked at the entrance of Combaun Wood (2km south from Anglesborough).
On this day there was deer culling in operation so no access to the wood before 11am.
Followed the forest trail for 3.5km (turned east from main path at 3.1km).
Spent the next .5km looking for the most popular route to the top of the Spur of Temple Hill
This next section is along the side of the forest and the steepest hike of the day (200m elevation in 1km distance)
At 4.9km turned north for the gradual 1.6km incline to the summit.
Visibility was very poor but there was an obvious wide path most of the way up… (It is easy to get lost in these conditions after leaving the path).
Left the spectacular views for another day and made our way back down.
Instead of turning west after 1.6km… walked across to the hill top where some large cairns were visible.
Later, after joining the main trail in Combaun Wood…. went north instead of south to explore the forest on it’s own… meeting the Paradise Hill loop track along the way.
Although, this walk was nearly 16km in total... the ascent to nearly 800 meters was easier to accomplish then most other peaks of similar height.
