English version:
In the Tauparikākā Marine Reserve, there are two (very) short walks you can do: the Tauparikākā, which takes a short detour along a dune lake, and Ship Creek, which goes back and forth to a forest swamp. I do the first walk, which is just over a kilometer long. In terms of nature, this is more or less a revisit to Lake Matheson, which I visited earlier today, but set on a beach. Nice to see, but Lake Matheson showcases nature more prominently.
The boardwalk next to the dune lake makes this walk worthwhile. There is also a viewpoint later on where you can overlook both the lake and the sea. If time allows, you can also go to Ship Creek, which is only 800 meters long and can be visited in ten minutes. You can also go to the beach, but you need to be careful of sandflies. I didn't have any insect repellent, and I was eaten alive by these annoying insects.

I do the first walk, which is about a kilometer long. In terms of nature, this is more or less a revisit to Lake Matherson that I visited earlier today, but on a beach. Nice to see, but nature is more prominent at Lake Matherson.

I had no deet and I was eaten skin and hair by these nasty insects.
