Itinerary description
This trail is located in the northern part of Cyprus.
This nature trail consists of three loops. Their difficulty grows with the number increase: loop 1 is the easiest, loop 3 is somewhat difficult.
The start point is at Taskent picnic site, there are ruins of a monastery as well.
Beautiful views of Nicosia from above along the way as well as of Pentadaktylos peaks.
While hiking the 3rd loop accidentally took wrong direction and walked a bit along Besparmak trail in the opposite direction to the castle (the path was beautiful though).
We visited Buffavento castle too.
Due to the time shortage didn’t walk the 2nd loop in full as well as walked a bit of an easy tarmac road instead of the path on the way back.
TERRAIN: mostly narrow and sometimes rocky paths, walking on builders and rocks a few times. Proper shoes and poles will be of great help. A bit of tarmac road as well. Ascent all the way to Buffavento, way back is mostly descent.
SEASON: the trail has no shade. Loop 1 may be eroded during rainy season.
SIGNS: very good signposted trail. Look for green-white dots, green-yellow lines and red spots, they all will guide you. No resting places apart from the picnic site and parking near Buffavento.
KIDS: little kids can walk first two loops, the 3d loop is for the kids of 9-10 yo and up
