Itinerary description
This walk takes you from the Government huts to Tarn Shelf via the Ski Fields and returns via the Snow Gum Track. I'd recommend this to trying to go up Snow Gum track on the way up as it can be a killer on your knees.
The trail is well marked and easy to find, however, walking on Tarn Shelf proved to be deceptively difficult as the trail is essentially a lot of rock hopping.
Wear shoes that support your ankle well and, if you're like me and have a problematic knee, go gently. I couldn't go on past Johnston Tarn as my knee began to give out.
