Itinerary description
This is a nice, very doable day walk in the broader Castlemaine region. It is almost entirely in forested areas, with a little bit of farmland and the outskirts of Fryerstown at the very end. The very start goes besides the Coliban Channel, but the route soon diverges.
The trail is undulating - lots of little ups and downs along the way. It could be helpful to have poles, although I was fine without.
If you live in Melbourne, I would recommend doing this walk during the cooler months when Melbourne is grey and miserable as the sun is almost always shining this side of the Great Dividing Range.
The hike finishes at Fryerstown Cemetery - you can alternatively finish by walking in to Fryerstown itself - but its a very small place, so there's not much there, even if it is quite pretty.
Enjoy!
