Itinerary description

Day 7. Wexford & Wicklow Marilyns - Tara Hill 253m, Wexford, Croghan Mountain 606m, Wicklow & Annagh Hill 454m, Wexford.

On many of the peak bagging/outdoor websites I perused for this trip I noted there were very few route descriptions regarding ascents of the lesser known Irish Marilyns. This also applied to the availability of gpx files. I will therefore add relevant information and files that hopefully will provide assistance to future hikers/peakbaggers.

Tara Hill 253m, Wexford
Tara Hill (252 metres) is a heather-sloped rocky outcrop that has stunning panoramic views up and down the Wexford and Wicklow coastline.
Parking is at the start point for the Tara Hill Walking Trail just NE of Gorey. It is a small car park or pull in for about 3-4 vehicles. I didn’t walk the Tara Hill ‘blue’ walking route but went for the quickest way up and down the hill. As such it is easy enough, go East on the road out of the car park for 1km before turning left on a single track footpath. This brings you round in a loop to a forest track that heads NE. Now you can either follow my up or down route, both are good. Once at the summit there is a cross and some cairns but the views are not that great because of the trees. It is then simple enough to retrace your steps whichever way you decide to go. A pretty short but decent walk.

Parking: Small car park for 3-4 cars at start point.
Route: A bit of road, footpaths and forest track. Some nice views at some locations. A decent walk.
Statistics: 4.2km with 136m of ascent done in 52 minutes.
Maps: Digital Outdoor active Harveys Super Walker.
