Itinerary description
Waking up was always at 6 am. Tea, Toilet, Breakfast and started our ascent at 8 am.
Like everyday in the morning, clear blue sky with a nice view over the Uhuru peak and mount Meru.
From the start the trail takes us uphill. Vegetation is getting less and less and now we have some bushes here and there covering the place. All the way up you could only hear "Poleh Poleh" (Slowly Slowly)
Today we will pass 4000 m of altitude and we will start applying the following rule: "Climb high, Camp low". This will help us a lot in acclimatization, meaning that you go on a higher altitude to push your body to acclimatize and then you descend a bit for the night.
For that we must reach the altitude of 4700 m today, have lunch at the Lava Tower and then get back down to Barranco Camp.
On the way, our trail crosses "Lemosho Route" and from there we continue in the alpine desert to reach the Lava Tower, where we had lunch, stayed for an hour and left. It was snowing and we took the way down to Barranco Camp.
The way to get there is for me one of the best hikes so far in the area. Nature is amazing, passing by rivers, waterfalls and awesome vegetation.
Once in Barranco Camp, we rested for a bit, had our dinner and went to sleep early.
