Itinerary description
Day hike done in June 2016
This probably not the shortest path but we had no topo. This path starts and ends on the main road to Karakul and goes along a long ridge up to peak Urtabuz. Apart from the first few hundred meters the ascent is quite regular and smooth.
Good acclimatization to altitude is required.

Follow the directions for the way down also when coming up - the beginnig is much easier then.
We did it with no proper acclimatising in 9,5 hrs right thennext day after arriving from Osh. I don't recommend it though - better get use to the altitude first (in other words this trail is only practical for those arriving from Murghab, who have spent some time on the 3500+ altitude).
