Itinerary description

Perfect day as sunshine and recent snowfall..
starting at the col de tents top of the ski resort at Gavarnie.
follow the small paved road around towards Port de Boucharo..here take the left hand path that follows the valley..easy and quite flat..at my time to climb there was much snow so crampons were needed.
follow path through some small rocks until you reach large rocky area which climbs steeply, water fall is tricky to cross, but with the snow was ok ..path climbs again and care to be taken..soon the Refuge de roland is in view..again care taken as very steep valley to your left...once at the refuge the Brech is looking down on you and another steep climb, as much snow there was only one track up, you arrive at a false summit...again climb towards the brech, this time with a zig zag...At the Brech take in the view accross to spain ...continue behind the Brech to your right, loose gravel and snow but ok, many refuge areas for solo hikers...follow trail untill you see Le Doigt...standing all alone ..ere the trail is more steep and narrow at times...glad i had crampons...around the Doigt very narrow only for one person at a time
Here i was buzzed by rescure helicopter..coming very close to where i was trying to pass a narrow egde...wondering what was happening, i had to take hold as the down draught was stong..climbing around the rock i saw three hikers one was in bad way...helocopter arived again from spanish side and mad landing only few meters away to drop of the rescue guys...again was nearly blown from mountain..quite dramatic !!
passing the rescue , all said hi and to continue..path now is on a verry tight knife edge..again glad to have crampons and poles...the summit to Taillon is in front and another 100 mts you reach summit...amazing views accross france and spain..and looking down into Ordesa valley...return same way...
