Itinerary description
This section of the Taff Trail is from Brecon to Merthyr Tydfil via Talybont on Usk. The first third is along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal to Talybont on Usk (where there is a nice cafe). It then gently climbs an old tramway and the bed of the old Brecon and Merthyr railway to the watershed. The third section follows forest tracks, minor roads and a further section of the old railway down into Merthyr Tydfil. Close to Merthyr Tydfil the official Taff Trail is not followed as it was covered in an earlier route (https://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=16406874). More details can be found in the blog http://johnpontafftrail.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/brecon-back-to-merthyr-tydfil.html
