Itinerary description
We stroll through the historic village of Vrachassi and visit the important archaeological site of Anavlochos.
We follow the old path from Selinari and we reach the village. The path leading to the archaeological site starts on the left, just before the village.
This unwelcoming location is full of traces of a post-Minoan settlement (9th - 6th century BC) which include cisterns, walls, tombs and a temple. It is one of the settlements of the Dark Age that followed the demise of the Minoan civilization, which were built on the most inhospitable and inaccessible hills which, however, provided better protection.
Then, after a visit to the windmills, we reach the centre of Vrachassi where may have a refreshing drink on the main square. We return through the path or the road.
