Itinerary description
It is the old path which used to connect the village of Tapes to the summer pasturelands of the Plateau of Katharo.
This route features various kinds of centuries-old trees, springs and the cave of the Rebels (optional) and leads to the area of Dokari where we find numerous shepherds’ huts (mitata). From there, the last part of the trail (30-minute hike) leads to the entrance of the Plateau of Lasithi and the road. Then, we may either take a right turn (40-minute hike) to the Plateau of Katharo or a left turn (5-minute hike) to the beginning of the Minoan path of Kritsa Katharo. From there we can return to the village of Tapes through the paths.
It is a fascinating route both uphill and downhill.
