Itinerary description
A short and unknown gorge located just half an hour from Agios Nikolaos. We depart from the village of Skinias and our hike ends at Avlaki beach (area of Vlichadia). From there, we walk along a path and on road and we return to Skinias. Except for three steep and rocky points where we need to be more cautious, the gorge is easy to cross. It is neither very high nor very large, but it is large enough to allow us to enjoy the beauty of nature and to discover the wealth of the local aromatic herbs; the smell of sage, oregano and thyme is intoxicating. Swimming in Avlaki beach is a must and is best enjoyed on a windless day or on a day with southerly winds.
