Itinerary description
This route introduces you to the famous Plateau of Katharo, a favourite area for the locals all year long, who go climbing, play with the snow, collect wild herbs, go hunting or (in Spring) take long walks in the fields that are covered with thousands of wild flowers. The area also attracts many families on Sundays that have lunch in the traditional taverns of the area of Avdeliako. Most of the route is on dirt road and passes from many points of interest and springs as well as from Crete’s largest kermes oak, the so-called “Therioprinos”!
Visiting period: March – November
* From the location “Ohra’s Pit” (Lakkos tis Ohras) we may follow a shorter route (Small tour of the Plateau of Katharo Τ11Α)
