Itinerary description
Hike around Mountain Freita with a sunset watch in the watch sight spot of São Pedro Velho.
It starts next to the Camping site of Merujal in the heart of Freita.
We take part in two charted routes, but the course gets combined and costumised between both.
It is pretty much a mountain hike most of the time above 1000mt altitude.
It’s all about amazing landscapes. On the watch sight of São Pedro Velho, half of Portugal can be seen: Serra da estrela to the East, Caramulo to the south, the ocean and ria de Aveiro to the west, and to the north, many interesting points such as Serra Montemuro, Marão and even the Gerês in good days.
One sees many shepherds with groups of goats and cows. A few original trees, but it’s about mainly rocks and landscapes.
Good for anytime of the year, but it’s very exposed and the wind blows strongly.
