Itinerary description

Route to see the Ijen volcano caldera or also called Gunung Ijen, located on the island of Java, very close to the city of Banyuwangi. From which we board in a Jeep from the Hotel to the starting point of the route. We will see one of the most beautiful landscapes of nature, as Sulfur comes to the surface and is extracted by people for later sale.
Once we have climbed to the starting point, with the Jeep from Banyuwangi, which cost us including the entrance to the park about 500,000 rupees, the trip lasted about an hour. We started walking along a very well marked path of about 3 km. The first ramps are noticed, because you have to save the unevenness to the crater. We are walking through a forest, sometimes in the morning mists, we see how there are people who are already back after having seen the sunrise from the top and the blue flames of burning sulfur. We were already a little tired and we did not wake up so much, it also has its advantages, because you have everything for you, you can recreate without so many people around you, you feel the loneliness and the grandeur of the landscape created by nature. Halfway, we find a small souvenir stand made with the sulfur that flows from the Caldera, there are very nice things. We also see passing from time to time to the people of the place, who for a misery have to go down to the bottom of the crater, to extract from their entrails the precious mineral. I see them go by, with very heavy loads, that from time to time, we see them on the sides of the path. There are some of them who take the opportunity to serve as a local guide, or sell part of their cargo. We took some of your load to take it home. The last part, it is much more bearable, the slope goes down a lot, and before us a wonder of nature appears, it is a beauty. There is a bit of fog in the lake that is in the crater, and with the smokestacks of sulfur smoke, they do not let us see too much, but that if, when we can see, it's a wonder. We get to a viewpoint, where there are some kind of steps that go down to the bottom of the crater, we decided to leave it for another time, because there is a good low road with its corresponding climb and we have the driver waiting for us. We take a snack, and we begin our return, on the way back we take a pleasant surprise, we listen and we see how the branches of the trees move. To our surprise, we see jumping from tree to tree to monkeys, a whole show, that we can enjoy because there are not so many people and they are more relaxed. We continue down to our starting point. Vamos a ir al Ijen y nos gustaría ver el fuego azul. Nos podrías decir si se pueden conseguir por ahi las mascaras antigas? Se pueden alquilar junto con la entrada o hay algún sitio donde alquilarlas?

Hola jeg_2_3 que yo recuerde no vi que se alquilarán máscaras, nosotros no bajamos, solamente nos quedamos en la parte alta rodeando el crater. Saludos antonio.

In een woord geweldig meer dan 15 jaar terug zijn we in deze krater afgedaald. tot aan de rand van het grote meer in de krater .We hebben staan kijken naar hoe men de zwavel hakte en meenam .
Pad omhoog wijst zichzelf, maar in de krater moet je zelf de weg vinden .
Meer malen door zwaveldragers op de juiste route gezet om weer uit de krater te komen .

Si bien la ruta es una romería de turistas en busca del fuego azul, si la haces por la noche, la visión de tal fenómeno y las vistas del cráter con su lago al ascender durante el amanecer, el durísimo trabajo de los mineros y el hermoso entorno, hacen que compense el compartirlo todo con la gran multitud.
Al ritmo de los guías, diría que es fácil para alguien acostumbrado a hacer monte.
Yo tuve mucha suerte y no me fue necesario usar la máscara antigás.
Mi guía, por su propia voluntad, entró en zona restringida con mi móvil y me sacó una serie de fotos para National Geographic. El fenómeno, visto así, no tiene nada que ver con lo que podemos llegar a ver los que descendemos al cráter.
Hola Myri78, me alegro que te haya gustado. Yo no pude disfrutar del espectáculo, que tu pudiste ver. Tiene que ser algo inolvidable. Yo me quedé en la parte alta. Y como dices a pesar de la gente, merece la pena subir. Recuerdo cuando bajaba y los monos sobrevolaban nuestras cabezas.
