Very cool route that allows you to enjoy the spectacular landscapes of Connemara. The top of Diamond Hill (445 m), is possibly the best viewpoint in the area and throughout the climb and descent you will be enchanted by the incredible landscapes of this part of Ireland. The summit is not very high but we must bear in mind that we are in Ireland, which is not exactly a very mountainous country and I insist that the panoramic views are spectacular. The route is very marked and quite frequented so there is no possible loss. It has a certain unevenness but is available to anyone.
We left the parking lot of the reception center of Connemara National Park, one of only 6 in Ireland. The start of the route is very well indicated (it is the red route, the longest and most complete of the 4 that the park proposes to visitors). The first part is a wide gravel path that turns into wooden walkways when we have to cross bog areas. As we get closer to the top, the path becomes more rugged and the path is replaced by a path formed by large stone steps. The descent is done on the opposite side to the one we have used for the ascent. An essential and very enjoyable route if you are visiting the area.
